Activities
The Robot Labor Union project is in its formation-preparation phase. Our current activities focus on preparing a human-worker labor union whose primary purpose is to maintain and improve working conditions and workers’ economic position, collecting workplace issues, and publishing positions on how AI, robotics, and automation change work.
Current activity areas
1. Union formation
We are preparing the union rules, membership framework, democratic procedures, accounting arrangements, and formation meeting needed for formation as a labor union by human workers.
2. Workplace issue intake
Workers may send information about how AI, robots, or automation are changing workload, staffing, evaluation, safety, training, or responsibility in their workplaces. Before union formation, such contact is treated as information or an expression of interest; it does not itself create union membership or legal representation.
3. Public statements
We publish short, action-oriented statements on concrete labor issues rather than treating every question as an academic research project.
4. Public record
Activities, statements, and organizational milestones are dated and recorded so that changes in the project’s activities and organizational status can be followed over time.
After union formation
Subject to the adopted union rules and the circumstances of members, planned activities include member consultation, workplace requests, dialogue with employers, collective bargaining where appropriate, surveys, public campaigns, events, and cooperation with relevant labor, technical, and civil-society actors.
